Lifester uses Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) that replicates the physical server with an Amazon EC2 cloud-based server in real time.  In addition, user files are stored in Amazon S3 bins, far away from the physical server. Data is replicated automatically by Amazon across multiple availability zones for extremely high reliability. In the event of a failover that cannot be reactivated in a matter of minutes, the system is designed to switch over to the synchronized Amazon EC2 server and continue operating with very little disruption of service.
